DESI Analysts

The DESI analysts bring a wealth of experience to the review of the performance of DESI companies, as well as assessing the industry trends. Presented below is a brief summary of each analysts experience along with the segment they review.

Prime Movers & Project Development
Dr. Shalom Flank
Dr. Shalom Flank is currently the Chief Technical Officer at Pareto Energy, a project development firm that provides district energy solutions for our nation's cities in cooperation with the U.S. Conference of Mayors. Dr. Flank is also a principal at Global Works Consulting, a consulting firm specializing in commercializing new Energy technologies.

He has served as a program manager at the Defense Advanced Projects Agency (DARPA) and as a staff member at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the U.S. House of Representatives, and has had appointments at Harvard and MIT.
 
Renewable Energy Technologies
Mr. Nat Treadway
Mr. Nat Treadway is a Managing Partner of the Distributed Energy Financial Group, LLC where he addresses regulatory and market barriers to renewable energy technologies. At the Public Utility Commission of Texas he chaired an interconnection committee to facilitate the interconnection of small generating units to the distribution system. Mr. Treadway is an expert on the economics of programs to assist retail electricity customers. He leads DEFG's efforts to apply the Distributed Energy Market Index (DEMI) to examine the market potential for alternative technologies in the USA, and marketing and commercialization strategies.  He is working on measurement and verification (M&V) of alternative resources, including energy efficiency, demand response and combined heat and power facitlities.
 
Alternative Fuel & Fuel Cells
Mr. Brian J. Fratus
Mr. Fratus has 19 years of energy sector and infrastructure development, finance and asset management experience with Fortune 500 utility holding companies, independent power organizations and big four management consulting firms both in the U.S. and internationally. He recently founded CDI; an independent consulting firm focused on transaction advisory services, energy consulting, business and project development, and investment activities.

Mr. Fratus has led or been directly involved in development and financial structuring investment for $3.8 billion in the energy and infrastructure sector. His career has covered the breadth of: new venture concept origination and structuring, financial analysis and feasibility assessment, market analysis, project development, financial structuring, acquisitions and divestitures, asset valuation, asset management and asset optimization.

The scope of projects have involved coal, gas, wind, hydro, geothermal, power combined with desalination, combined heat and power for industrial facilities and central city district heating.

Mr. Fratus holds bachelors and masters degrees concentrated in Economics and Finance from George Mason University and Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) candidate.
 
Demand Management, Metering & Controls
Mr. Joshua Meyer
Joshua Meyer has been working with distributed energy since 1998. Mr. Meyer is an independent consultant and serves on the executive committees of the US Combined Heat and Power Association and the Northeast Combined Heat and Power Initiative.

Previously Mr. Meyer led Encorp's Corporate Development Department. Prior to joining Encorp, Mr. Meyer was a consultant with Arthur D. Little is Utilities and Energy Services Practice. He has over fifteen years of business management experience and has focused on strategic planning, product management, and new product and service development.

His articles and white papers on the energy sector and distributed generation have been published a number of forums including Public Utilities Fortnightly, Energy User News and Power Engineering.

Mr. Meyer received a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Connecticut College.

Mr. Jamie Wimberly
Jamie Wimberly founded and currently serves as the CEO of the Distributed Energy Financial Group (DEFG) LLC, a specialized consulting and financial services firm focused on distributed energy and energy technologies.

DEFG offers a suite of consulting products and services focused on commercialization and raises capital for energy technology firms and projects. †In addition to DEFG, Jamie Wimberly serves on the Board of the Center for the Advancement of Energy Markets (CAEM, a think tank in the energy sector that he also co-founded).
 
Enabling and End Use Technologies
Mr. Thomas Brunetto
Mr. Brunetto is a Managing Director at DEFG and has over 30 years of experience in the energy industry. This experience spans a broad spectrum of activities including business strategy and market development, resource planning and adequacy, demand planning and response, marketing, and rates and regulation.

Mr. Brunetto developed the DESI and associated services. Previously he was an Executive Consultant with Stone & Webster, Partner with Ernst & Young is utility practice where he developed their energy risk management services, Vice President with Cap Gemini where he led their Energy Utilities and Chemicals e-business and supply chain practice and a Director with Navigant Consulting where he led their energy asset management practice.

Mr. Brunetto also has extensive experience with start-up organizations and financing. He was a member of the leadership team that formed and financed the Emporium Procurement Exchange, and co-founded the Customer Care Research Consortium, a group of over 20 leading utility companies focused on customer care best practices to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

Mr. Brunetto received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University and a Masters in Economics from Boston College.
