The Energy Retailer Research Consortium (ERRC) is an independent research consortium managed by the Distributed Energy Financial Group LLC, and comprised of companies with a stake in competitive retail energy markets:

• Electricity and natural gas retailers and marketers
• Product vendors and manufacturers of energy products and services
• Energy service companies and curtailment service providers
• Select individuals and organizations in an advisory capacity

Through its research, ERRC supports existing energy market advocacy organizations. In particular, the ERRC prepares the Annual Baseline Assessment of Choice in Canada and the United States (ABACCUS or Abacus), a report card on the status of retail electricity choice in North America.

ABACCUS provides a scorecard on the progress of the restructuring of retail electricity markets. ERRC prepares the report to provide a baseline from which to build a properly functioning competitive energy market. 2007 ABACCUS findings 2008 ABACCUS findings 2009 ABACCUS

Fully competitive electric markets give retail consumers a choice of energy suppliers and solution providers, and a choice of energy products and services. Competitive electricity markets create 'new economy' clean energy jobs and promote technological innovation for a 21st century electric infrastructure.
