Thomas J. Lord
Thomas J. Lord is an executive with over 25 years of experience in a variety of U.S. commodity markets. Most recently, as President of Volatility Managers LLC, he has worked with a number of clients to develop power risk management strategies, corporate risk policies and procedures and risk management system integration and deployment. He has led several efforts to design, develop and deploy client based risk management IT solutions utilizing a blend of off-the shelf, custom and client developed software.
Prior to this work, Mr. Lord was project director for Teknecon Energy Risk Advisors LLC’s effort in revising the governance structure of the electricity market for the government of Colombia. Additional work included strategic advising to board level management of U.S. investor-owned utilities in such areas as asset deployment, corporate investment in development of energy trading capabilities, due diligence reviews for the acquisition of trading companies (in both buyer and seller roles), and compensation structuring concerns. Mr. Lord also acted as an advisor and educator for client staff analysis of complex structured power transactions and asset based contracts.
Mr. Lord has managed midstream natural gas assets and marketed gas to a variety of end-user, cogeneration, and gas electric utility customers throughout the country. In addition, he has performed energy-related capital and operating financial analysis for acquisition, construction, divestiture, and budgeting purposes.
